There Are Many Ideas For Home Improvement You Can Do Yourself ...

If you like doing home improvement projects, it is a possible option when you have needed repairs, or you just want to make some changes. This is something you should carefully consider before starting, as you have to consider your budget, skills and the amount of time you have. When your house needs changes, as long as you keep your commitment to the job, you will be able to save some money. The suggestions that are following can be helpful for anyone who wants to improve their home by themselves. http://seolinkmonsterblog.net/

Safety is an important factor that should never be overlooked, when doing home repairs of any kind. The necessary precautions should always be taken, when working around construction materials, tools and other equipment, but it isn?t always. Using tools and materials can be harmful to your eyes, so eye protection is very important. This includes many tasks, as anything from a wood chip to plaster can get in your eyes. Power tools make a lot of noise, so protecting your ears is important. Permanent hearing loss can be the result of hours on end exposure to high decibel sounds. Wear a particle mask, especially when you are working around insulation, mold or anything that is toxic, to keep from breathing them in. SEO Link Monster Review You need to get a permit to do many different home improvement projects. This can vary depending on what you want to do and where you live however it is something you should check out ahead of time. When you hire a contractor, he will usually secure any needed permits, but if you?re doing it yourself, it?s your responsibility. In many cases, obtaining a permit is pretty easy and doesn?t cost a lot of money, but it can reduce your chances of stress and possible fines in the future. Getting the right permits is also important if you ever want to sell your home, as if you did any kind of major work without a permit this will come to the surface and make it harder to find a buyer. renegade millionaire

The whole purpose of DIY projects is to cut costs so you can save money. Don?t reduce the quality of tools or materials, just to save money.

Don?t let the project be affected by inferior quality, but that doesn?t mean that you can?t use recycled materials, or quality used items. When you need to paint either the outside of your house or inside, you need to choose the right paint. Using cheap paint might save you money to start with, but it won?t look as good, and you will have to repaint more often. Similarly, if you?re buying tiles for your floor, don?t buy materials that are so cheap that they?ll crack within a year or two.

DIY home improvement projects involve many factors, which we have looked at. TV shows have lots of information on this topic, and so does the Internet, books and magazines. Anything can be accomplished when you do the right planning, such as remodel a room, make some repairs or even add-on to your house. There are almost endless possibilities for DIY home improvement.

Occupy protester's Twitter posts subpoenaed

Prosecutors have subpoenaed the Twitter records of an Occupy Wall Street protester who was arrested in October during a mass protest on the Brooklyn Bridge.

The January 26 subpoena from the Manhattan District Attorney's Office seeks "user information, including email address," along with three months' worth of tweets from @destructuremal, the Twitter handle for Malcolm Harris.

Harris, 23, a freelance writer and editor who lives in the New York borough of Brooklyn, said Tuesday that Twitter sent a copy of the subpoena to him on Monday. He posted it ? where else? ? on Twitter.

"When you get an email from Twitter Legal, you assume it's a phishing scam, trying to get your password," he said. "It turned out that it is a phishing scam, but it's from the prosecutors."

It is not clear what specific evidence prosecutors are after. But the subpoena is an example of posts on social media sites posing potential legal problems for authors.

Harris said his lawyer, Martin Stolar of the National Lawyers Guild, would file a motion to quash the subpoena. Twitter has agreed not to comply with the subpoena while Stolar prepares the motion, Harris said.

A spokeswoman for the Manhattan district attorney's office declined comment.

The subpoena seeks Harris' tweets from September 15 ? two days before the Occupy Wall Street movement began ? to December 15. Harris is not sure what tweets could be fodder for prosecutors; Twitter's interface does not allow him to review all of his old tweets.

Stolar was not immediately available for comment Tuesday evening.

A Twitter spokesman declined to comment on the case but confirmed that the San Francisco-based company's policy is "to notify users about law enforcement and governmental requests for their information, unless we are prevented by law from doing so," in order to protect users' rights.

Harris is one of hundreds of Occupy-related defendants whose cases are still winding their way through the court system. A special courtroom has been set up to handle more than 1,800 cases in New York, the vast majority involving misdemeanor charges.

He was charged with disorderly conduct and is due back in court on February 29. Like a number of Occupy protesters, he has vowed to take the case to trial rather than accept a deal from prosecutors.

The National Lawyers Guild is representing many of the arrested protesters.

Ore. Democrat wins special election to replace Wu (AP)

PORTLAND, Ore. ? Oregon Democrat Suzanne Bonamici will be the newest member of Congress after a decisive victory in a special election to replace former Rep. David Wu, who resigned in a sex scandal.

Bonamici, a former state senator, defeated Rob Cornilles, owner of a sports marketing business. With 98 percent of the votes counted, Bonamici led 54 percent to 40 percent.

"I really believe that the election reflects that my priorities and the district's are aligned," Bonamici told The Associated Press after a victory speech Tuesday night to her supporters in downtown Portland. "And I'm thrilled with this opportunity."

Bonamici, 57, said she expects to speak with congressional leaders Wednesday and find out when she'll be expected in Washington.

National Democrats poured more than $1 million into the Portland-area district, determined not to drop another safe seat after losing a New York district left vacant by Anthony Weiner, who acknowledged sending provocative text messages and resigned.

Cornilles said the incessant television advertising took a toll.

"If you don't have the resources to respond to it, it becomes very difficult," he told The Associated Press.

Cornilles made his second bid for the seat after losing to Wu by a similar margin in 2010. He said he wants to spend time with his family before deciding whether to make a third try.

Bonamici won't get much of a break before gearing up for the next campaign. She'll face a May 15 primary before the general election on Nov. 6.

The district will become marginally friendlier for Republicans in the next election, when new district boundaries will leave out a swath of Democratic voters.

No date has been set for Bonamici to take office, her campaign said. Once she does, she will focus on helping constituents who haven't had a representative solve problems with the federal government, she said.

Wu stepped down from Congress in August after a newspaper reported that a young woman accused the seven-term Democrat of making an unwanted sexual advance at a Thanksgiving dinner. His resignation capped months of reports about Wu's bizarre behavior that included widely panned photos of the congressman wearing a tiger costume.

Bonamici emphasized her experience in the Legislature and as a lawyer working on consumer protection issues at the Federal Trade Commission.

Late in the race, Cornilles tried to tar her with the scandal that took out Wu. He also dinged her for votes that raised taxes.

Cornilles promoted his business experience and he downplayed his GOP affiliation in a district where Democrats outnumber Republicans. But he couldn't overcome Democrats' work to discredit him.

Democrats and their allies pummeled him with television ads that attacked his business credentials, highlighted his opposition to abortion and tried to align him with the tea party.

"This election is a win for middle class Oregon families who want someone to fight for them," said Rep. Steve Israel, D-N.Y., chair of the campaign committee for House Democrats, which spent $1.3 million on the race.

The district includes downtown Portland and the suburbs in Washington County, as well as smaller communities in Clatsop, Columbia and Yamhill counties.

Democrats have represented the district for nearly four decades. The last Republican to come close to a victory was Molly Bordonaro, who came within 3 points of defeating Wu for what was then an open seat.

"It's a pretty exciting night here at our celebration," Bonamici told the AP late Tuesday. "Now the real work begins."

94% Hugo

Got dragged along to this one, certainly wasn't something I would have picked out myself! Kids films are really not my thing, it's just as well this isn't "really" a kids movie - I honestly think they would be bored with it, it is way too long at over 2 hours (even for me, it could have happily been half an hour shorter). I saw this in 3D, which I think helped make it a little more interesting. It is very slow and there are a few bits I didn't like all that much. I have to say I am surprised by the negative comments on Asa Butterfield, who plays Hugo. I often don't like kid actors, but I thought he did really well with this. He isn't over the top and he has a nice screen presence. (Is it just me, or is he a bit like a young Jarvis Cocker in looks?!). Sacha Baron Cohen WAS over the top. I really hated his train guard character, and not just because he was mean - he just totally left me cold and I found myself hoping he wouldn't get together with Lisette because he was just so disgusting I wouldn't wish him on her! The other thing that bugged me is that it set in France, yet everyone talks in English with an English accent - that bit really did my head in! Aside from that, I liked the French setting and it was a very pretty movie to look at. Also the dogs stole the show on several occasions. I found the movie bits with Georges really ugly to look at. (I am sure I will get panned for criticising early works of film, but seriously?!).It had its good points and its bad points, really I think if you enjoy it or not will come down to personal taste. I enjoyed it more than I expected to, but once was enough for me.

Daniel Radcliffe Talks The Woman in Black

Daniel Radcliffe seems content with, as he puts it, the fading "hoopla" that surrounded playing Harry Potter for ten years. "If that steadily decreases for the rest of my life, I'll be kind of cool with that," Radcliffe admitted on the eve of the release "The Woman in Black," his first post-Potter film project. Considering his fame -- primarily fueled from playing Potter in eight separate films -- the 22-year-old actor is surprisingly self-aware.

Radcliffe realizes his current place in movie stardom. He knows that his "cachet" (again, as he puts it) will not last forever, nor do I get the impression that he wants it to last forever. Actually, from the time we spent together, I did get a vibe from Radcliffe that almost cried, "the sooner, the better." Put it this way: when searching for an apt metaphor to describe fame and fortune, Radcliffe compared it to regurgitated steak.

In "The Woman in Black" Radcliffe plays Arthur Kipp, a lawyer who discovers deep, dark secrets in a town inhabited by a seemingly child-killing ghost. An open and honest Radcliffe discussed the importance of his first post-Potter role, why he would not play another character named "Harry," and what he won't miss about the fame that came along with being Harry Potter.

They didn't screen the film for me before this interview.
I'm sorry.

I've seen the trailer. In the time we have, you could act out every scene that I've seen five times.
That's absolutely true! Yes! And it would be a lot of the same face that's in the trailer.

So you're 22 now, right?
Yes.

You do look a little older in "The Woman in Black" than what we're used to seeing.
Good.

Is that important to you?
Yep.

Why?
In the original script he's about 27. I think I could conceivably play 24 or 25 with a little bit of stubble. Also, in all of those clothes, that makes you look slightly older because you hold yourself differently. So, yeah, we were picturing him at about 24 or 25, with a 4-year old son.

Did you read the book?
Yes. I've read the book, but I've never seen the play. Weirdly, because I never really was at school -- because the play seems to be like a "school trip" play for everybody I know -- I never went to see it because I was doing "Potter." But I hear it's terrifying -- as it should be.

It would be odd if you said, "I've heard that it's hilarious."
[Laughs] Yeah, well that's the thing: the movie is very different than the book and very different than the play. And the book is different than the play. So, you know, we've all taken liberties. The original book is told in the past -- it's flashback from my character as an old man -- and that's not what it is in the film. In the film it all takes place in the present time. It's basically the idea for "The Woman in Black," the village and the tone of the book, and changed details of the story.

What if the main character's first name in this story was Harry instead of Arthur? Maybe that's a stupid question...
No, it's not stupid at all.

Would you have asked to have it changed?
Yeah, I think I might.

That's interesting.
I don't know. I think I might. It would be more of a problem if the character's name was Potter. That would be worse. But, I don't know. Maybe. On "My Boy Jack," they came to me with glasses and I was like, "Whoa, not those ones." But, yes, it's not a stupid question; it's quite an interesting one. Yeah, I think I might have asked for that to be changed. I'm not sure. I don't know how I would have felt about that. But, yeah, there's also another weird "Potter" connection with this: the guy who played my dad in "Potter" played my character in the original TV film of "The Woman in Black." So there's a few little weird "Potter" connections. But, then again, "Potter" is connected to everything. It's no longer even a coincidence. It's just inevitable.

This is your first big film role post-"Potter." How important is this movie to you?
It's important, but it's not the be-all and end-all, that's the thing. Like, people keep saying, "Oh, it's Daniel Radciffe's first film post-"Harry Potter," let's see how he does."

I don't even necessarily mean it like that. Do you feel you need to separate yourself from what you're currently known for?
Yes. But I think it's a longer... I think to put all of that pressure on one film would be ridiculous. I think, because not everyone is going to see this. A lot of people will, hopefully, but not everyone. And, also, I made peace a long time ago with the fans. There will be people who forever see me as Harry. That's fine as long as they're not controlling a casting racket in L.A., then we'll be fine. For this film, what's great about it and what's kind of perfect is that the part is different: it's older, it's playing a father. There are challenges there; stuff that will physically separate me from Harry in people's minds. But there's also the story is so compelling that after about 10 or 15 minutes of watching the film, you're going to stop thinking about me or what else I've done and just be into the film. Because it's a really brilliant story. So that's why it's kind of perfect as a first film outside of it. Because even though I'm the only "name above the title" kind of thing, once you're in there, it's not about me. It's about the story and the need to know what's going to happen. So, hopefully that will overtake.

Will you miss all the commotion that came with Harry Potter? If I were you, I can't decide if I'd miss it or not.
[Pauses] Hm...

Not the people that you worked with...
No, no, no... the fame and the circus and the hoopla...

"Hoopla." That's the word I'm looking for.
No, I don't miss the hoopla. I don't think, particularly. I'm quite happy. If I have passed my most famous point, I won't be unhappy. Like, that's OK. If, say, around the time of "Potter 7" coming out, my face is all over the world, and all of that stuff is going on at that time and all of that madness -- if that steadily decreases for the rest of my life, I'll be kind of cool with that. I had a good dose of it for 10 years. You know, I'm now content to just make my way and do a lot of films that I find interesting. There is the fight, then, is that in order to keep being able to do interesting little things, you have to do that George Clooney thing of doing a big movie like an "Oceans 11" -- which are still very good movies -- so that you can go off and do "Syriana" or "Good Night and Good Luck," or whatever. So I suppose that's the challenge in the future. For now, I still have "Potter" behind me and people still associate me with this big thing. So, while my name has some cachet, I guess...

It does.
It does, for now. But, you know, it won't forever. And, so, while it still does, I've got a chance to make some really interesting films.

So when you look at the hoopla, what part are you most glad is over? Is it so you have time to make different movies?
That's the thing...

You had time for stage productions...
But not for films. I won't miss having to tell people, "No, I won't be available for another year and a half." I won't miss that. Look, there's always going to be premieres and all of that. That kind of stuff. I won't miss the mania that kind of surrounds it. But it's not like I disliked any of that at the same time. It's one of those things where you go, I don't know -- it's the equivalent of having a really, really good steak. Like, you have it, then it's gone. You don't miss it. You don't go, "Oh, I wish that steak were back here." You go, "Damn, I enjoyed that."

I've missed steak before.
OK, but you don't want to regurgitate it and eat it again!

That's fair.
But that's the kind of thing I'd say about "Potter." It was like a good steak for 10 years, I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't try and bring it back up.

At one point you were attached to play photographer Dan Eldon. What happened?
Yeah, yeah... I was attached to that for a while. We felt that the script changes were needed.

My ex-girlfriend went to high school with him, so it's a project that I've paid attention to.
Oh, really? Yeah, it was a great script. And then I read a little more about his life and the script was fantastic, but it wasn't entirely -- reading about Dan, as well as being an inspirational and amazing person, he was also abrasive. And he annoyed a lot of people. He had a knack for pissing people off.

I've heard that.
And that wasn't in the script. And I felt that it needed that. So, yeah, that was the reason for that.
